The magic of this tiny Mount Veeder Cabernet block results from the vines nestling in a forest of California Laurel. Also known as Bay, these aromatic trees lend their character to the flavors of the wine, providing an insinuation of menthol, which marries with a black cherry character from the ripe ‘See’ clone Cabernet Sauvignon that’s grown there. ** Only 100 cases produced. **
For the past 17 years, we’ve been working with this wonderful little Cabernet vineyard on Mt Veeder. In 2013, we decided to capture its unique essence by bottling it separately to enjoy its intoxicating aroma. The 2017 vintage was lost to smoke in the fires that ravaged Napa Valley that year, but the 2018 vintage returned with vigor.
